Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
A few of the most
frequently asked
questions:
Do you sell other drain plugs? (ie: transmission, differential, axle)
The problem with transmission, differential, and axle drain plugs is there are so
many variations even inside the same model year!  We do not have an complete accurate database for all these variations.

If you know the diameter, pitch, and head style, we can almost always help. Otherwise, we have only a small database to find the correct size. This is not the case with engine drain plugs though. We have
120,000+ year, make, and model combinations in our database.  If our search engine does not show your vehicle, just e-mail us or use the unknown drain plug form. We will look into it.

I have a newer car with an aluminum engine.  Will a magnetic drain plug
do anything for my engine?
Yes, most of your engine is made of aluminum, but that is all in the engine case.
All moving parts are ferrous metal (attracted to magnet) or brass bushings (non-
ferrous).  OK, the brass bushings will not be caught by the magnet, but they are
still only a small amount of the moving metal.

The biggest items that wear, the piston rings and cylinder walls are ferrous.  All
your gears in the transmission are ferrous.  The piston rods are ferrous, but are
not wearing because of the brass bushing.  The list goes on.

I don't change my own oil.  Will the dealership or mechanic install this for
me?
Yes, just bring the magnetic drain plug with you to the next oil change.  Explain to
the mechanic that this replaces your current engine oil drain plug.  It's not a bad
idea to mention to the mechanic that the magnetic drain plug needs to be cleaned
off and reinstalled when you go back in for future oil changes.  Some shops will
not wipe the magnet off unless you mention it.

I have never heard of magnetic drain plugs.  How do I know this is not just
another “Snake oil” scam?
I have found that many people have never heard of magnetic engine oil drain
plugs.  I had the same reaction when I first heard of them.  Trust me, they are not a
scam, they are a good idea.  We use them in every motorized vehicle we own and
would never own a car without one.

When we started making magnetic drain plug in 2002, we starting making sizes that no one else did. 10 years later we have seen many competitors come and go. We created the idea of a company that ONLY sells magnetic drain plug. Since then, our descriptions and pictures have been used by others as they start similar businesses. We were the first and still the best value on the market!

If this was a scam we would charge A LOT more for these drain plugs, make our
fast money, and get out.  We prefer to make our customers happy and stay in
business as a respectable company.  Our repeat customer list and OEM clients grow by the day.

Magnetic drain plugs have been around since the 30's.  They are endorsed by the
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), they are used in high end cars, the
military uses them, aircraft use them, some bike makers, etc.  Many of these
stock magnetic drain plugs are a weak attempt at protecting the engine as they
barely have any magnetic pull.  Case in point - Suzuki uses a magnetic drain plug
in most of their new bikes.  This magnet cannot hold the weight of the drain plug if
hung from a piece of metal.  We designed our drain plugs with the strongest
magnets around to catch and hold on to the particles the stock drain plugs
cannot.  We did not invent the idea, just redesigned it!

Standard Neodymium is sensitive to high temps. What temperature are
your magnets designed to operate within?
Our magnets are not standard Neodymium.  The temp range is well past the
engine's 200+ Fahrenheit operating temps.  We have tested this magnet in many
of our vehicles and one still has its original magnetic pull after 10 years in a daily
driver Ford Ranger.

Should I order extra washers for future replacements?
We suggest replacing your drain plug washer at every oil change.  The washer is
meant to crush with every use to seal from oil leaks.  Replacing your washer every
time is cheap insurance.  All drain plugs come with one washer.
